I don’t know if you’ve heard or not, but we’re involved in some promotions to help the Haitians who have been devastated by the earthquake last week. In addition to donating portions of the proceeds from the sale of a certain stamp set depending on each market, Stampin’ Up! bought some supplies for 5,000 hygiene kits. A few of our vendors also donated supplies for the kits as well. We invited our employees to help assemble the kits over the next few days, and apparently the response was so enthusiastic that they got all the kits assembled in one day! I felt badly when I found out—I was working from home today and planned on helping assemble the kits later this week. But when I opened the pictures they sent me from the home office, I admit that I teared up a bit and my heart almost burst. HAITIAN DISASTER RELIEF On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. In the past, when terrorists attacked the Twin Towers, when a tsunami struck Indonesia, when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans, and when wildfires ravaged Australia, Stampin' Up! demonstrators stepped forward and showed their commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. This time is no different. From now until February 28, 2010, you can partner with Stampin' Up! to make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of this devastating earthquake. Stampin' Up! will set aside $2 from the sale of every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and donate that money to the American Red Cross' Haiti Relief and Development Fund. People are always asking me where I come up with ideas for cards. My answer? Everywhere! I went shopping with a friend the day before her surgery and we saw some really cute pillows. So we took pictures of them and I came home and made a card. We also took pictures of sweatshirts. She made cards from that idea. I see cards in framed art and cards make nice framed art too. Anywhere you see something...it can be a card. Here's a picture of one of the pillows and the card I made from it. Now I need to order more crystal brads. To see more of my ideas, check back here. Even if I'm behind on my posts, I will eventually put something up.

I'm really liking the new Sweet Treat Cups (item # 116802)that are in the Holiday Mini from Stampin' Up! They're 2 1/2 inch plastic half cups with adhesive attached. They're perfect for adding goodies to a card or a page. You'll find them on page 7 of the Holiday Mini. You get 12 of them (so lots of playtime) for just $2.95! The link to the mini is on the right hand side of my blog. We made a card with them this month at our Stamp Club. Ours has a bookmark inside so you can get the candy out without tearing up the card. So it's prefect to give away and then they can eat the candy, use the bookmark and still have the cute card to look at.

When I first got my Big Shot, I cut out tons of the Top Note. It's perfect to make frames or bag toppers. Then I found myself totally in love with the Scalloped Envelope. It's the perfect size to tuck in a little note on the front of a card, put a small journaling note or even fold into a cute little box. Then I moved on to the large scallop circle, Box #2, and the pop-up die. All of these are my favorites. I can make more boxes, a dress, a tree, a ball, a sucker, a cute baby gift. Then along comes the Holiday Mini. It, of course, has new stamp sets for the holiday season. Then I find that there's a new die for my Big Shot....a Build a Bear. Also has clothes and more. So now I find myself addicted to dressing little paper bears and using them on all my crafts. Check out the new little cheerleader bear. Isn't she darling? Her pompom is from the Daisy #2 die. Be on the lookout for more bears in the upcoming week.

Today's the day. I leave for Regionals this afternoon. My swaps are done. OK, most of my swaps are done. I did cut some cs and such to make another swap when we get to the hotel. I couldn't decide what daisies and what centers to use so I made 3 kinds. I'm looking forward to hopping in the pool at the hotel tonight and going to the seminar tomorrow and seeing tons of new ideas. Can't wait to share them with all of you when I return. Saturday September 19 is my Open House. We'll be making a card with the Build a Bear dies. Plus lots of cute ideas using the products from the holiday mini. IN the meantime, I've been playing with the Decor Elements Definitely Decorative collections. I bought the rolls and ran then through the Big Shot using the Daisy #2 die and added them to my mailbox. Isn't it cute? It's right in front of my house and you can see it when you come by next time.
