OK, I've tried Facebook and I like it. Somewhat. This is a better option to get my point across and shoe odd what I make. I'm having surgery this week for a hernia repair and then I will be stuck at home for a while. It'll be a goof time to make some cards and plan for Spring and Summer craft shows. Plus fill my Etsy shop. Maybe that's too ambitious but we'll just have to wait and see. Anything has got to be better than 3 years between posts

Hi- It's been a very long time since I did any blogging here. I have been working on other diversions and social media.

However, I am back. I'm back with a new attitude and a new vision for the future of June's Creations. I've been meeting with various networking groups; creating the new me. This new me is way better for you. Why? The new molded me is about making the world better for YOU and for me. I get to do the things that I love. I get to be artsy and creative in lots of ways and you get to be the awesome person who gives something unique, handmade, and not the same as anyone else's. Where do you start? You start with a card. Yes, that's right, a card. What kind of card? A greeting card. For a birthday, a wedding, Get Well, Thank You, Praying for you, Thinking of you, etc. They are sweet, fun, sentimental, romantic, professional, personable. A handmade greeting card is all of those things and more.

Anyone can go to a card store and buy a card. They're everywhere and that's good for them and for just anyone. You could also go online and get some images and print your own cards. There are companies that you can hire to print cards for you as well. That's what big companies do. They are large and have a lot of employees. You however are a much smaller business. You want to rise above the mass corporations but you also want to stand out a little more and be taken seriously.Yes? So you need to be a step above from your colleagues.

That's where I come in. We can meet or talk online and you can give me an idea on what you're looking for. Do you sell real estate? Maybe cards with a house and a Congratulations tag. Hair stylist? Makeup artist? Cake decorator? Seamstress? I have images to coincide with all of those. The most important thing is that those cards will be unique to you, to your business and hopefully close to your style. Even if you have a business that I didn't mention, we can create something just for you. Even if you want a stack of the same style, it will be the style for you. Handmade means that even a stack of the same card will never be exactly the same.
Wanted to tell you about the birthday party I did. The party was for a girl just turned 10, her friends and siblings. They each used the Butterfly Basics stamp set, our kraft notebooks and washi tape. Most of the tape came from Stampin' Up! but I picked up some locally too. I have to say that I won't be doing that again. I got 3 rolls from Stampin' Up! for $5.95 and they coordinate with each other and our colors. I did pick up the newest set from the Occasions catalog. 5 rolls (5 yards ea) for $7.95 Sweet Dreams Designer Washi Tape Colors include: Basic Gray, Crisp Cantaloupe, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon and Sahara Sand # 137787

Here's the sample I made using the Sweet Dreams Set:

When I stopped by the local drug store, I found that their rolls had 5-8 yards each but they were $3.99-$5.99 per roll. I was super disappointed that I paid that much (total without tax- $14.97) for 3 rolls just so I could have some bolder options. The girls had fun though and I did too. In addition, I used some retired stamps to make them mustaches and lip photo props. Here are some photos of the fun they had.
I love this set. It's got butterflies, a fern, flowers, background stamp, accents, words. 11 total stamps. Everything I need. This I bought the matching thinlits too. An awesome deal! 15% off savings

Wood Bundle: 139322 $61.95
Clear Bundle 139323 $51.75
Photopolymer Bundle 138865 $41.50

I got the Photopolymer, some adhesive and reinkers. Have to reink the ink pads so they stamp nicely. Totaled a little over $50. So I was able to get a free set of Blendabilities from the Sale-A -Bration collection too. I'll post what I did with that later. Here is the stamp and the first card I made.
I signed up to do the Blog Hop for vc_rocks. It's all about using fancy folds and 3-D items. Here's a couple things I did recently. Be sure to click on VC_Rocks blog to see all the blogs with great ideas.

This is the card closed. It's 4 inches by 4 inches all folded.

This is the inside. The Happy Birthday stamp can be found in the Age Awareness stamp set #135381

It's a photopolymer set (clear and very sticky) $15.95. You can purchase it from June's Stampin' Up! website

I call this card a box fold because it folds like you would close a box when you don't have tape.

Be careful when tucking in the last corner. Since this card doesn't have open edges, it would be a great place to add confetti to surprise someone.

Here's a cute candy box that you can add a gift to. It's the perfect size for some tootsie rolls, other small candies, chap-stick, lipstick, etc. I made it with the envelope punch board. I started with a piece of the All Abloom paper #133703. You get 24 sheets of 4 1/2 by 6 paper for $6.95 Then I scored with the Simply Scored along the long side at 1, 1/2, 2 and also at 4, 4 1/2 and 5. On the short side, score at 1,2,3, and 4. I don't have a video but there are lots out there.

No, not what you first think. It's not my mind (or yours). What is it then? It's my ribbon. I bought a length of gutter, cut it down and attached it to the wall with brackets. Then I added end caps. I put some Tombow glue to secure them on and Viola! they're up and easy to use. I used to have a box but then I got too much ribbon. Stampin' Up! had some ribbon storage things but, as a demo, I was always taking the rolls out to show them to customers and snapping and un-snapping the case wasn't working for me. I do have some left though. I will sell them to anyone who wants them for a reasonable offer. Drop me a line and we'll talk.
In the meantime, it's the end of the stampin' year and time is sunning out to buy your favorite things. Some things will carry over to the new catalog and some will not. I've gotten to see the new book and I will say that one of my favorites from the Occasions catalog will be returning and I'm excited. It's the Life in the Forest set. So you know I will be making more 'What does the fox say?' cards and gifts. This is a cute post it and pen holder. I'll have them at my craft fairs so keep an eye out.
I've really been neglecting my blog. Why? I got a Facebook business page and it's really easy to post something small on it and move on. The problem is....not everyone has facebook, people who have it don't respond to invites to Like my page and it's hard to do some things there. So I'm back here trying to make it work again.

My facebook page is: www.facebook.com/junescreations2

So, what have I been up to? I've been playing with the spiral die for the Big Shot. It makes the cutest flowers. I renewed my vows recently and made favors for everyone with a felt rose on top.

Then I taught a class on making a summery wreath. I used flowers from punches, paper roses made from the spiral die and more felt roses. This time I used multiple colors of felt and fleece. I will offer the class again in June.

I've had a business page attached to mymy Facebook account for over a year now but I really didn't know how to use it. When I went to the Stampin' Up! 2013 Convention, I learned a lot on how to use it, this blog and other tools to help me boost my business. I'm excited to try everything out. This is a double post because I posted this on my Facebook business page as well. I really need for my customers to be able to see what I'm doing wherever they can. So, if you have facebook, feel free to like my page. There will be all sorts of Bonus offerings listed there. Some will still be listed here but I'd like to save the blog for ideas on how to use your products, see my samples, see my For Sale retired stamps and products list, and get ideas. I've been trying to post the monthly specials on my F/B page. Maybe I should offer the specials here too. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think about that.
It's the Best of Halloween. I already ordered mine, along with the cool new glitter from the Holiday catalog-(# 132206-$7.95) Black glitter and Orange glitter in the same package. Can't wait to use my heat & stick powder- (# 100625-$4.50) with it. It's really easy to use and oh, so fun. Just stamp image with Versamark ink (# 102283 $7.50) on cardstock color of your choice. I rub the cardstock with my Embossing Buddy (#103083- $5.95) first because it reduces the static and makes the image so much clearer after all your work. So embossing buddy, then stamp image with Versamark ink, then sprinkle on the heat & stick powder. Using the heat tool (# 129053- $29.95), warm up the heat & stick until it just melts, then sprinkle on the glitter. Shake it off and use the heat tool a 2nd time to set the glitter. Beautiful! I will post pics as soon as my set is in and I've played with it."

This is one of the fun new products we got to see and try out at the Stampin' Up! Convention 2013. It was fun to watch as we saw a bacon stamp being carved and then stamped next to eggs. Her set also included doughnuts. There's bacon salt, bacon t-shirts, bacon dice, and almost anything else you can come up with. Now you can make your own bacon stamp!
Several people have asked about the paper bag albums and what to put in them. The basic answer is anything you want to save. A summer album might have pictures of fun things you did during the summer like swimming, boating, surfing, or maybe just a backyard bbq with friends and family. Pockets hold tags with more photos, ticket stubs, pressed flowers in sealed bags, etc. You attach the photos with photo safe adhesive. Elmer's glue will eat the photos or at least make them warp and not look so nice. I have some adhesives that work really well. You can buy them on my website or contact me and order direct.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few years ago, my scouts made their own paper bag albums. They showcased the fun things we did during the year. I brought in lots of scrap paper, foam pieces, stamps and punches. Then each girl made their album base. I punched holes and they tied them together with ribbon. All through the year I took photos and had them printed out and the girls added them to their albums. At the end of the year, each girl took home a full album with pictures of all the girls we had that year and all the fun we had. Pockets in the album contain ticket stubs, notes, autographs, info sheets, and the girl scout promise and law.
I'm excited! Sometime over the weekend, I hit 10,000 views. A couple of months back I switched my views to not include when I come to check. So it went back down. However now I have over 10,000 so I will be doing a drawing.......Comment and tell me things you'd like to see on my blog. Give me a way to contact you so I can send you a prize. I will draw a name in a week, so get your comments in by Sunday April 14th or at least by the time I'm awake on the 15th.
What is here: A pack of 6x6 prints (colors shown). Some pages were loose so I pulled them to show off the colors. It includes More Mustard which is one that is retiring.. I bought way more of these than I needed. Also a pack of felt pieces from the Sweet Pea collection. Just one of those things I saw and wanted and then never did anything with. So someone else can make use of them.
After I get 3 comments, I will add 1 more item to the goodie bag. Then I will add another item for every 2 comments after that. So 1-2 comments: get the above items, 3-5 comments get 1 other item, 8 comments, get another, etc. Maybe I can send a whole box out instead of just an envelope.
It's the first Saturday in May and will be in Hammond, IN at the Jean Shepherd Center. So I will be using things we normally throw away or send to the recycling centers in my art projects. First thing I have photos of are one of my favorites.... paper bag albums. They're a great way to use leftover lunch bags (don't use ones that had either a banana or peanut butter inside) and scraps of designer series paper. I just pick a theme and a color scheme and start working. They're really easy, fun and addicting to make. Then I give them as gifts or offer them for sale. People who don't craft love them because all the have to do is add photos and attach whatever elements I include (card candy, ribbon, etc). They have a quick and easy album in less than an hour.
This one is a holiday themed album. I used Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Night of Navy and Very Vanilla for the colors. Remember the last Treasure Hunt? You saw my post, collected the clue, went to the Late Night Stampers (LNS) list and viewed other blogs on the list, collected clues from those, made a list, gathered 50 clues, and emailed me your list of clues. I then put your name into the drawing and some people won free stuff. I also offered blog candy on my blog and drew a name for a free roll of ribbon. This time will be the same but we'll draw for something else. I love giving away free stuff! Don't you love getting it? Here's the image for the Treasure Hunt.
You will find this image on each of the clues. Your list of clues will include the clue and who's blog you found it on. As a bonus, you will get to see lots of great samples and techniques. My clue for the Spring Treasure Hunt is the Simply Scored. I have owned other scoring tools in the past but this is the best one I've tried. I own the basic Simply Scored which has score markings every 1/8th inch, uses a stylus with both a wide and a narrow ball. I use the narrow end to score our heavier cardstock and the wide end for our Designer Series Paper.
Once you have the basic board, you can upgrade and get the diagonal plate. The diagonal plate makes it easy to create your own envelopes. Instructions are included. I wish I had known years ago that it was this easy to make my own envelopes.It's also great for making kris-cross designs on cards or page boarders.
That's right, 2013 marks 25 years that Stampin' Up! has been our stamp company. I've heard some people say that it's late for the love stamps. It may arrive late for Valentine's but you can tell people you love them all year long and then you'll have these for next Valentine's Day.
You'll find both of these sets and lots more on my website. You can purchase them at all hours of the day or night. If you have questions, just ask. I will do my best to get back to you quickly. Even if I have to respond the next day because you had the question at 2 am.
We had a lot of fun at my Valentine's Class. I offered an extra card to anyone who was registered by last Friday. Class was on Wednesday. It snowed so I had some no shows but the rest of us had fun. First card I'm showing is from the Henry Says.... set. It features Henry/Henrietta and a googly eye. I stamped her on Wisteria Wonder and cut her out. Isn't she cute?
We also made a cute envelope and note from the Simply Sent kit. The kit came with pre-scored dsp for the envelopes plus dimensionals circle cut-outs, baker's twine and a little note card. Perfect to tuck into a shirt pocket, lunch bag or even the visor in the car. We followed the exact directions in the kit for this one. Quick and simple.
I was asked for a a cute gift that could be given to a teacher, friend, or classmate. I offered pencils or Tootsie Rolls to put into the skinny bag. We topped the bags with a glitter heart and the Valentine's heart. Everyone loved it and the bags were a hit too.
If you're having trouble finding them, the skinny cello bags are $2.50 for a package of 50 bags. Dimensions are 1" x 8" and the item # is 124134. If you are local, call me and I'll place your order with my next workshop. That will save you on some shipping. You could also book your own and I'll show you and your guests several fun ways to use these.
Right now, my craft room has been used like a giant junk drawer. Yes, there's all sorts of stamping materials in there. Yes, I also have scrapbooks, paper and fabric in there but I found boxes leftover from Christmas, stuff stashed there "for a day or two" and ended up being there a year or more. When I moved here, I wanted my own space where I could hold up inside and craft. I haven't had that space in a long time. So my resolution is to clean up this space and get it to where I can not only use it myself but share it with another person. It's only an 8 x 10 room so classes are out of the question. We'll keep using my rec room or the library down the street. In addition to the promise of fixing my space, I will be sharing it step by step. So get ready to be horrified at the mess. Taking pictures is the best way to show everyone, including me, how far I've come in the process. The cleanest space is the shoe holder on the closet door.
Hey---- The time arrived, winners were drawn and I have to say Congratulations to all the people who followed clues and emailed their lists in to me and to other demos who participated in the hunt. My clue was paper snips. Those are our scissors, of course. I absolutely love them. I love them so much that I own 6 pairs! OK, so I did purchase 1 extra pair because I wanted one for inside my craft room and only there and some more so members of my classes didn't have to share if they don't own a pair yet and even one other pair when I couldn't even find one pair (not even the craft room only pair). So, you know what turned up the day after I placed the order? Yep, 5 other pairs. So now I own 6 and that seems to be the exact amount needed to hold classes, stamp on my own, design swaps, stamp with my scout troop, make gifts, stamp with friends, create and assemble wedding and party invitations, rubber stamp home decor, create for craft fairs, make Thank You cards for wedding, funerals and businesses, and a host of other things with my Stampin' Up! business.
Ahh, I did mention the winners for the Fall Treasure Hunt. Well, from my own blog, I selected a lady right here in local Portage, IN to win a roll of ribbon. I will post her name when she responds to my email. I want her to read it there before reading it here. However, the nationwide winners have already selected their winnings.
I'm so excited. There's so much going on with my businesses (stamping and cake decorating) right now that I can barely contain myself. I've been making more cakes these days and my friends have been getting specialty cakes too. A My Little Pony theme, an edgy tween rocker cake, a gluten free Tres Leches (3 milk) are ones I have made recently.
In addition to the cakes, I'm also doing some different things with my Stampin' Up! business. I've been giving some smaller classes in people's homes as well as in my home. I stepped back from doing a hostess club until January. People have a lot to do in the fall and early winter. Back to school and then holiday after holiday, all of them big events. I will be showcasing and selling the things I have made at various craft fairs this season. More on those in a different post.
I'm almost at my goal of 10,000 views to my blog. So I'm going to try a little experiment. I saw this idea on Cathie Smith's blog. She belongs to the Late Night Stampers group too. So anyways, it goes like this: It's a Pay It Forward game. I will send out gifts to 3 people who post a comment on this post. I will collect the comments until October 3rd, do a random draw on the 5th and get something handmade by me out to the 3 lucky people. As a result of getting a gift, you must then offer a gift to others from your own blog. Hence the 'Pay it Forward'. Here are the rules:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

RULES:

I will create a handmade gift for each of three people who comment on this post. The gift is a total surprise and will arrive on your doorstep anytime within the next 90 days.

In signing up for Pay it Forward, you are committing yourself to the project…someone pays it forward to you, so you pay it forward to others! Post these rules, or something very similar so others can get involved. You will create your own post where you create gifts for 3 people, and so forth.

You must have an active blog of your own, or some way to post up your PIF info like a Flickr, Pinterest, or Facebook account. Essentially, you’ll need a place to announce your own Pay It Forward.

After commenting on this post, should you be one of the lucky ones, post something similar on your blog…so you can spread the Pay It Forward love. I will email you asking for your mailing address, and the online address where you are posting your PIF info, so I can get your crafty treat in the mail. Please make sure your email address is visible on your profile or leave it in the comment.

This week's Late Night Stampers challenge was to make a single layer card that had a Wow feature. The card I made used sponging and emboss resist. Isn't it pretty?
I did some swaps this summer. What are swaps? Basically what it sounds like. I make a bunch of the same card and trade with others who have made a bunch of the same cards too. I have done this locally with the demo group I belong to and through a hostess for an around the country swap. One of the swaps I was in this summer was for 3x3 cards. I love 3x3 cards. They're small and very cute. I love to tuck these little cards anywhere and everywhere. Here's the collection I got. The top rows were made by other Stampin' Up! demonstrators. The bottom row was made by me. The last card on the right was not in a swap but created for an open house I did recently for another group I'm a member of, Midwest Sales Support.
The card we made at the open house features the Elegant Butterfly punch. We stamped the image and punched it and layered it over a solid punched piece and added a little curl to the wings to give it some dimension. I noticed after I made the cards that I used retired DSP from the pack we got from Sale-a-bration but any small print will work.
I keep running into people who ask about classes and say that they don't want another hobby. There isn't room in their home for another large project. They don't have the kind of money to invest in a lot of products. Their spouse will be mad if they start a new thing and all sorts of other things. I have to say that if one of those options is your case then classes might be the best fit for you.

I do ask that my class participants provide a simple class kit. That makes it easier for everyone that attends.The kit should include: paper snips, a bone folder, and some sort of adhesive (I like our Tombow Multipurpose glue, SNAIL, or Anywhere glue sticks for making cards). It saves time when we don't have to share. People will usually share tools and I always have an extra glue stick for first timers and those who forgot or didn't have time to run home first. These things can be stored in a drawer, a box or other small space and don't require a lot of cash. Each of those items are under $10. Some people like to add a couple other things: mini glue dots, dimensionals, and blender pens. All of these are items we use frequently when making cards, scrapbook pages, and 3-D items. When making 3-D items, I suggest an ultra strong tape like our Sticky Strip to hold things together.

Classes have a wide variety on costs, depending on what it is that we are making. In a Stamp a Stack, we usually make 10 cards for $20. Some people pay a couple bucks extra to me for the envelopes, others also keep a supply of their own on hand. Most of my customers have a box of some sort to store their completed cards in. That way, when you need a card in a hurry, you can grab one and go. No going someplace to look for a $5-$8 card that you may or may not like. When you come make them at a class, then you have the extra added bonus of having a handmade item that looks nice too.

Sometimes I offer a class called a Stamp Camp. At this class, we'll make some different things. We may make a card that matches a gift bag, some things that can be used as gifts, or even things to decorate your home or office space.These run a little higher on cost because I offer a kit or products to make the projects. Leftovers can be taken home so you can make another or something else. Things we have made in the past include cards with a matching box to store them in, gifts for the holidays, and mini scrapbooks.

Another class I offer is a Technique Class. I teach several techniques that can be used to make cards, scrapbooks, or other projects. I will let you know up front what they are and you can choose to do one or all, depending on your time, interest, and finances. Techniques are displayed on a sheet and include the instructions plus your samples so you can duplicate them. Most of the people doing classes have a book that they are keeping the techniques in.

Now that you know more about classes, hopefully I'll see you in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!
